ESTIA's Mission:

ESTIA is a Maine-based ecological organization that promotes and facilitates sustainability and peace through education.

ESTIA Timeline

2009:

  • Property at 90 Williams Pond Road (3.5 acres, cabin) in Bucksport, Maine donated to ESTIA by Sheila Holtz
  • Phase 2 of Permaculture-EcoPeace Demonstration Site, Agia Skepi Detox. Center, Filani, Cyprus
  • 6th Annual EcoPeace Conference - "Sacred Gardens: Spiritually, Ecology, and Peace"

2008:

  • Workshop on Permaculture, Sivanda Ashram Yoga Retreat, Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas

The ESTIA EpiCenter

Since 2004, ESTIA has been a catalyst for the promotion of peace and sustainable living through many community-building and innovative learning opportunities in many parts of Maine and beyond, reaching as far as Hawai'i and Cyprus.

ESTIA has connected, influenced, and inspired many students, community members, and community and university leaders.

In 2009 one of those leaders, Sheila Holtz, donated the land and cabin on Williams Pond Road in Bucksport, Maine that has expanded ESTIA's eductional and outreach opportunities.

ESTIA - The International EcoPeace Community

ESTIA is:

  • A non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of cultural and biological diversity and the preservation of biotic systems.
  • An educational learning community pioneering an integrative human-ecological approach to education on issues of peace and sustainability.
  • A model and a catalyst in the promotion of peaceful co-existence benefiting the local and the global community.
